Haight-Ashbury, San Francisco:
the epicentre of the hippie counterculture in the mid-sixties.
Now, it’s just a monument to crass commercialism, if it ever wasn’t after the first brief flowering.
This painting is of a group of houses, known as ‘The Painted Ladies’, on Haight Street itself.
